Learner Voice & Leadership

Your voice matters at City of Dublin FET College.

Learner Councils in each of our fulltime centres give learners the chance to shape college life and make a real difference. Learner representatives sit on governance groups and help us shape the FET College learner experience.

It’s a great way to get involved and help shape the future of your City of Dublin FET College community. We provide training to make sure learner leaders feel confident, supported, and empowered in their roles.

Student Cards

 

Learners enrolled on fulltime programmes at City of Dublin FET College receive a free student card giving you access to great student benefits.

With your student card, you can:

  • Apply for a LEAP card for discounted travel
  • Enjoy student discounts across retail and hospitality

Sports & Social Life

The City of Dublin ETB Sports and Cultural Council (SCC), brings students together through a wide range of fun, creative and competitive activities throughout the year.

Supports for Learners at City of Dublin FET College

At City of Dublin FET College, we’re committed to supporting every learner meeting you where you are and helping you succeed. A wide range of academic, personal, and practical supports are available across all our centres.

The Disability Support Service is a free and confidential service provided jointly by City of Dublin ETB and the National Learning Network in our fulltime centres.

The DSS supports learners on Level 5 and 6 fulltime programmes who may experience temporary or ongoing difficulties in accessing education.

All registered learners receive a one to one needs assessment, with personalised supports put in place based on individual recommendations.

Learners across all programmes and centres can access:

Literacy and numeracy support
English language support
IT and digital skills support

To access these supports, speak with your course tutor or coordinator.

Most courses in City of Dublin FET College are free to eligible learners.

Some Full time courses may include a registration fee and additional costs for materials and other costs.  For Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) programmes the following applies:

  • A non-refundable registration fee.
  • Additional charges for materials, exam fees and additional training certification may also apply, depending on the course.

Training Allowances and Social Protection Retention

You may be entitled to a Training Allowance, Back to Education Allowance or to retain your social welfare allowance while attending a fulltime course.  To find out more about your eligibility please contact your local Intreo office.  Our FET Guidance and Information Service can also assist with queries on eligibility and entitlements.

SUSI

PLC Maintenance grants are available to eligible students.  Eligibility depends on individual financial circumstances, and a grant must be applied for online, through Student Universal Service Ireland (SUSI).
